Over time, you may find that the picture of your projection TV gets blurry or fuzzy. One of the first lines of defense in avoiding this is to clean the lens and mirrors of your projection TV. You can do it on your own with great care.
Step 1:
Unplug the TV from the power supply. Never undertake any type of repairs on electric equipment without first disconnecting from power. Take care in handling any electric parts, as some may contain a residual charge that can shock you.
Step 2:
Remove screws from the back cover and connection area of the TV. Be sure to put them in a safe place, or on a piece of paper with notations for where each one fits in the television.
Step 3:
Gently remove the back cover. Locate the mirror and three projection "guns," as these are what you want to clean eventually.
Step 4:
Use a camera lens cleaning cloth (or other very soft and gentle cloth) to clean the mirror and lens. Gently remove any other dust before closing the TV.
Step 5:
Replace the back cover and screws. Plug back in the power supply.
Step 6:
Turn on the television. Check to see that everything works correctly and that your picture is now clearer.
Some brands, such as Pioneer, require entry to the mirrors and lens through the front. Be sure you are removing the right parts in order to find what you want to clean. Entering from the front can also allow you to clean the screen simultaneously.
