PS2-How to Install a Cooling Fan in a PS2 Empty
PostSubject: PS2-How to Install a Cooling Fan in a PS2    PS2-How to Install a Cooling Fan in a PS2 EmptySat Aug 06, 2011 12:44 pm

If your PlayStation 2 Slim is prone to overheating or your cooling fan is not working, it may be time to replace the fan. To do that, you will need to open your PS2. If you want, you can even replace the old fan with a more powerful one.

Step 1:

Turn the console upside down and remove the six Phillips screws on the bottom. Five of the screws are beneath the rubber feet; the last is beneath the warranty sticker.

Step 2:

Flip the console back over and gently remove the lid. The cooling fan is the black half-circle device next to the CPU.

Step 3:

Remove the three screws securing the cooling fan to the motherboard.

Step 4:

Disconnect the cooling fan cable and tear the white sticker that is holding it in place. You can now remove the fan.

Step 5:

Replace the fan with a new one, securing it with the three screws.

Step 6:

Replace the lid and screw in the six screws on the bottom of the PS2.
