This guide only covers the short wire install process.
Items needed:XenoGC V2 chip
15 watt soldering iron with fine tip
fine solder strand
Desoldering braid
6x 1 inch 30 awg kynar solid strand wire
Flux
tooth pick
Optional items:Pair or powder free, latex or latex free gloves
Fiber Glass Pen
Q-tip
Isopropyl alcohol
Step 1:Clean the contacts on the xenogc chip with the fiber glass pen or with isopropyl alcohol (use the q-tip to apply alcohol and dry contacts.
Using a tooth pick apply a very thin and I mean thin layer of flux to the contacts.
Step 2:Once the soldering iron is hot apply a small amount of solder to all the contact pads.
Step 3:Clean the contacts on the Gamecube board with the fiber glass pen or with isopropyl alcohol (use the q-tip to apply alcohol and dry contacts.
Using a tooth pick apply a very thin and I mean thin layer of flux to the contacts.
solder a 1 inch 30awg kynar wire to each of the contacts circled in red in the picture.
Step 4:Now slide the xenogc chip down into place.
Bend the wires on top of the solder pad.
With the tip of the soldering iron touch the solder so it can melt and join the wire. Once done cut the excess wire off.
No need to add glue or tape. Chip will be held in place.
It takes a little longer doing it this way but will look a lot cleaner and no big risk of pulling/ripping a contact pad or via.
